Letters To My Son – May 2013
May 3, 2013
Dear Nick,
I cannot believe that your birthday month has already come and gone. You’re now a big two year old! I must say that while I am sad that you’re not a baby any more I am finding you to be a lot of fun now.
April was quite a month. It was cold and rainy almost every day. To top things off you were in extreme teething pain for much of the month. It was so bad that there were a few nights that I actually had to rock you to sleep, and I didn’t even have to do that when you were an infant. I certainly never imagined I would be doing it on your second birthday, but it was a moment that I will cherish.
You had your two year well visit just after your birthday. You weighed 23lbs 8.5oz (6%) and you were 34in long (36%). Mommy and Uncle David both went to kindergarten weighing less than 30lbs, and you seem to be on track to do the same. Your doctor was very happy with where you were developmentally. I think she wished you’d eat a little more, but she was happy that I had started you on Flinstone vitamins. What did people do before gummy vitamins?
We did have a lot of fun this month. Early in the month we went to the Hands on Museum for Matthew’s birthday party. They had a preschool room that you loved. You may have liked it even more if a lot of older kids hadn’t taken over the room and started taking things that you were playing with right out of your hands! Rude kids really bug Mommy, and I get really annoyed when their parents ignore that behavior!
Of course we also had your birthday party this month. Your birthday was on a Sunday, so we actually had it on that day. The theme was Cars which you love. It was a rough day for you though because of your teeth. You did have a good time in the end although all you wanted to do was walk up and down the stairs and play in the basement with Nana. Poor Nana didn’t get to enjoy the party at all!
We also ended the month on a really fun note by going to see Thomas at Greenfield Village. A fun outing where you can walk outside is right up your alley. I’m coming to realize that you really like trains. Besides a few books you don’t even know who Thomas is, and yet you went crazy over everything. You don’t know it, but Santa is already set to bring you a huge Chuggington train set for Christmas, and I think you’re going to love it!
With the start of May the weather has finally turned nice gorgeous! You want to be outside as much as humanly possible, so we’ve been taking advantage of it. You got a huge sandbox from Lala for your birthday, and now that it’s drying out we can put the sand in. I think you’re going to have a lot of fun with outside this summer. Over the winter I worried that you watched way too much T.V., but now I see that it was only because it was winter. You’re going to be a kid that will watch something when there is nothing to do, but you’d prefer to be outside playing. Here’s hoping that the rain slows down so we can go outside a lot this month!
Love,
Mommy
“Letters To My Son” is a post that I feature the first Friday of every month. It is part of a circle of posts written by other wonderful mommy bloggers. Each of our letters links to a letter on another blog. If you keep linking from one to the other you will end up back here at Rock-A-Bye Parents. The next letter in the circle is written by Shell at {Not Quite} Susie Homemaker. Go check it out!

What a cutie!! My son’s a skinny mini too- just tips the scales at 27 lbs at 2.5 years – if we’re lucky!
He is such a cutie.
He’s so so cute!!
He is so darn cute! The weather is beautiful now so hopefully you are all enjoying it!
He’s just precious! I got a feeling that Nana didn’t mind a bit. 🙂 We’ve had a LOT of rain this year. Last weekend it rained and it’s suppose to rain this weekend here, too. Ugh. Here’s to more sunshine for you and me!
I’m sorry you’re getting so much rain too! Our basement has had standing water and our roof is leaking. Thankfully there is no rain the up coming forecast!
I think he may weigh almost the same as my almost 4 year old haha. My son stopped gaining weight (he was in 90% before) once he started to walk/run. Haha. He’s so handsome. I hope May brings less rain to your area!
Wow, and I thought Nick was a light weight! Nick is all go, go, go too, so it doesn’t matter what I feed him. He just won’t gain. My friend’s little one is 11 months and he already weighs more than Nick! I just can’t imagine.
I love your letter Elizabeth. I so wish I had done this for my children.
I love doing them. Someday I’d like to make a book from them for Nick.
