Sharing is caring!

February 7, 2014
Dear Nick,
Oh I am so glad that January is over! It was such a long and rough month. We saw record lows that closed schools for days at a time, and it is now not only the snowiest January ever, but it became the snowiest month on record! We got to go outside a couple times, but it was often too cold to even go from just the car to a store. This meant we were stuck at home a lot! To make matters worse the cold made pipes at the daycare burst and the entire building flooded, so you didn’t even had daycare for most of the month. It was a happy day when you went back and were able to play with your friends again.

On the bright side you weren’t sick this month! That was actually the good part about you not going to daycare. You did have a teething issue at the very end of the month though. I’m sure all of your teeth are in, so I’m not sure what caused it. Our best guess is that your teeth were shifting some (maybe those 5 year molars were starting to push into the gum). You showed every teething sign, chewing, drooling, lack of balance, and biting! You never bite unless your teeth are
really bothering you, so when you bit Daddy we knew something was up.

You never cease to amaze us. Even trapped at home you were still developing and learning. You’ve entered the stage where you like to be funny. One of your favorite books right now is
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? I always pause so you can tell me what the next animal is, but then you started to think it was funny to say a different animal. Most of the animals are Brown Bear, but Brown Bear is usually Red Bird. You think this is hysterical and you roar with laughter every time I say “no it’s not!”

You have become extra loving this month. You give me big hugs all the time. You also are starting to really get into stuffed animals, and often give them big hugs too. I’ve always been surprised by your lack of enjoyment with stuffed animals, especially since you’re such a blankie snuggler, but that seems to really be changing.

It will be interesting to see what February brings us. Hopefully not more snow and extreme cold temperatures. Yeah, that’s wishful thinking on Mommy’s part. We are going to escape it for a little bit though. As I write this we are getting ready to head to Florida to see Grandma and Grandpa. We only decided to go last week. Quick planned vacations are so much fun! I’m sure I’ll have lots of fun photos to share in next month’s letter!
Love,
Mommy
I love that you are doing this as a journal. He will cherish these one day. And I can’t imagine the cold your are feeling…stuck inside for a month? I forget how spoiled we are.
You are so lucky! Our week in Florida was the best. Poor Nick wants to go back to the park so bad, but you can hardly even find it under all the snow.
This is such a cute feature! Your son is going to love reading these someday. He looks so adorable with his stuffed animal collection!
I love writing these letters for him. It’s so easy to forget the little things. It’s especially easy to forget when they happened, so I love to have them recorded. I hope he does like reading them some day.
