Letters To My Son – February 2013

Sharing is caring!

Dear Nick,

I must say that I am very glad that January is finally over.  As you know Mommy does not like the month of January.  It’s cold, blah, and it always feels far longer than 31 days.  It has felt extra long this year.  Especially when we had that really cold snap with temperatures that got so low that some area schools closed.

It has not been an easy month for you either.  Being cooped up inside is causing you to go stir crazy.  On a few nice days I’ve tried to take you outside, but so far so far you’re not a big fan of the cold or the snow.  We won’t tell Uncle David that because he so wants to teach you to snowboard some day.

On top of your being cooped up and bored to tears (literally) you’ve also spent most of the month sick or in pain.  As soon as you went back to day care after Christmas break you caught a bad cold.  I know it was bad because you were nice enough to give it to me (we really need to have a talk about sharing).  Before you had even gotten over your cold you started teething again. Every teething bout you have seems to get a little worse, and man was this one a doozy.  For almost two weeks you refused almost all food except yogurt and Coco Wheats.  This meant that you were in extreme pain and starving, so you were a very clingy and a very unhappy little boy.

There were some good points to the month.  Hockey started up again!  You haven’t gotten to watch much since the games start around your bedtime though.  You did get to watch the players introduction from the first home game.  I was so proud when you started clapping when they introduced Datsyuk (Mommy’s favorite player).

#Style

You’ve changed a lot this month.  You have added, “no,” and, “no way,” to your vocabulary, so we’re having an easier time figuring out what you want.  You’re also starting to get really good at using my tablet, and you steal it from all the time!

#Dream

I suppose it hasn’t been such a bad month.  We have gotten to spend a lot of time together at home.  There is nothing better than Mommy/Nick Days!  I am looking forward to the fun we’ll have in February and to seeing how you continue to change and grow.

Love,

Mommy

  3. I am so glad that I live in the West where it’s warm because my kids would kill each other cooped up for a whole month!

  4. I’m reading through, and I love all the letters! Your son is such a cutie, how cool he loves hockey, go Nick! (I can’t wait for my sons to be in sports, I’ll be so proud)

    1. Nick has been a sports fan since he noticed the T.V. When he was only a few months old I lived for Tigers Baseball games because they would keep Nick calm and get us through the witching hour! We’re big hockey people, so I’m rooting for him to play that sport ;).
