Silly Saturday – No Way!
I think one of the most exciting things right now is hearing all of the new words that Nick is starting to say. Some of Nick’s word are very clear and easy to understand while others take a bit of deciphering. Each one is still exciting though.
For a long time Nick’s favorite word was, “yeah.” If you asked him a yes or no question that one word was what you were most likely to hear. Sometimes he would shake his head no, but he rarely said it. That changed a few weeks ago when, “no,” became his new word. He still used, “yeah,” but he was having so much fun with his new word that he would often say, “no,” when he really meant yes. There’s nothing like hearing, “no,” as he’s reaching for, and grabbing, the object in question.
During the past week the word no has expanded into a statement. Now instead of a simple, “no,” Nick tells me, “no way!” It was really cute at first, but then it was as if I had a teenager in the house! Now that seems to be the only thing I hear.
Me: “Nick do you want to play with your train?”
Nick: “No way!”
Me: “Nick do you want some pretzels?”
Nick: “No way!”
You see what I’m dealing with here? If you could hear him saying it you’d probably be laughing though. It’s not this quick little, “no way.” Nick puts a lot of emphasis on both of the words, “nooo waaayyy.” I must say that if he gives me a yes answer for anything whether with a, “yes,” or, “yeah,” then I know he really wants something.
I don’t even know where he picked up, “no way.” We don’t say it. The only thing I can figure is that someone at day care must say it a lot. What I can say is that now it’s said in our house a lot!

Haha Zane has a phrase- whats up- that he says over and over again! He is so cute!
How cute!
no way! hahahaha my kids have not had that in that vocab yet!
I loved that stage! Enjoy it!
kids are so funny.
Be sure and video tape him saying it! He’ll be on to something else soon!
I do need to. If only he would do things while the camera is rolling!
Are you telling me that Donald Duck is the one that says No way. I thing that is to funny. I wonder who likes Donald Duck in you family.. Lol
No my friend’s little one got “What’s the big deal?” from Donald. I’m still not sure where, “No way,” came from.
Oh, I remember those days. Just wait, my son will talk my ear off now!
Oh mine can too, it’s just in a language all of his own.
That’s very cute. I’d be laughing!
It can be quite funny at times.
Haha! They are so funny…for awhile Jack was saying, “What’s the big idea?” and I could not for the life of me figure out where it came from. Turns out, Donald Duck was to blame. Ha!
I never thought of a TV show. That’s so funny that it was Donald!
