Letters to my Son - June 2015

June 2, 2015
Dear Nick,

It’s summer! Well, it’s unofficially summer, but that’s good enough for me. School is wrapping up and summer vacation is almost here. I’m excited because I get to stay home with you this summer! Of course it’s sad that I lost my summer job due to budget cuts, but I can’t wait to have so much time with you and to be a work at home mom for a few months (I’m going to put a lot of work into my blog and Jamberry business). You’re still going to go to school two days a week (the days you spend with Daddy), but some friend interaction every week will be good for you.

Park Time
May was such a nice month. A lot of the weather was nice (especially on the weekends), so you got to spend time playing outside and at the park. Needless to say you were quite happy. You love to be outside. especially when the weather is so warm and nice.

Ice Cream
You’ve started to become more independent this month. You had been such an independent baby. You were always happy to play on your gym mat or watch your crib mobile for hours. Truthfully you spoiled us. When you became a toddler you started needing us to play with you more, but you’ve been starting to show more independence over the last few months. This month you took a big jump there though. It’s fun to watch and hear you play, and while it’s hard to know that you’re growing up it is nice being able to get more stuff done! It’s tough being a single parent and trying to get stuff done when you’re needing my attention and help constantly. Having even a few minutes to get things done while you play really is nice.

Little Raven
The biggest part of May for you was that you were part of your school’s preschool musical. The musical was an adaptation of the story The Little Moon Raven. For the entire month we’d hear you singing songs. We didn’t know which songs were actually part of the show, but I figured one out when I over heard you singing I Believe I can Fly. Yeah, I knew you hadn’t just randomly heard that one! You can be so quiet and shy, so no one was sure how you’d do but you pulled it off. You weren’t the most animated performer, but you sure were cute! the show was performed on two different evenings. The first night was Daddy’s normal night to have you so I didn’t go. You were very upset that I wasn’t there and had a terrible time because of it. The second night I promised you that I’d be there. As soon as you stepped onto the stage you started to look for me. Of course with the stage lighting it wasn’t easy for you to see out. You couldn’t spot me at first and I honestly thought you were going to cry. Then you finally found me. I waved at you and you waved back and then you got totally into the show. It was so cute to watch you. I was so proud of you for doing it. You were such a cute little raven.

Now it’s June and our calender is filling up. It looks like June is going to be a very fun and exciting month. I can’t wait to see how it goes!

Love,

Mommy
