Mom to Mom Sale

Sharing is caring!

This past Saturday I went to my first mom to mom sale.  I was very excited about it  because I was going with my mom and some of my friends.  I went hoping to get Nick some new clothes and toys.  None of us were looking for any big ticket items, so we met up at the home of one of the girls in our group at the time the sale was starting and then all headed over together.

Having never before been to one of these sales I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.  This was to be a big sale.  It had 87 tables in the main room and there was also two separate rooms with large items such as strollers, cribs, large toys, etc.  They had expected so many people that they had called police officers in to direct the traffic.  By the time we got there we were being directed to park on the streets in the subdivision across from the rec center where the sale was located.  Some sales do not allow strollers until a specified time, but luckily this sale didn’t have any stroller restrictions because we had a little ways to walk to get to the entrance.

When we got the entrance we paid our $1 admission fee and headed inside.  We went straight to the main room since that’s where we would find clothes and small toys.  The whole sale was very organized.  There were signes directing shoppers to the correct rooms, and the sellers had signs marking their products.  Some of the sellers even had circular clothing racks and had signs labeling what sizes were located where on the rack.  Our group split up because we were all looking for different things and the space that was left for people to move through was a bit tight.  My mother and I stuck together and searched through most of the stuff looking for good deals.

In the end we did end up with some 6/9 month outfits as well as two toys.  We made out fairly well although I really would have liked some more 9 month outfits and some more toys (especially since one of the ones we bought Nick won’t use for a few months still).  We went armed with $20 and spent $21, so we did well there.  We found that you really had to pay attention to the prices though.  Some people were asking over $5 for a single outfit.  Personally I wouldn’t pay that much since I can get new clothes off of a clearance rack for that price.

All in all we had a really good time.  If there is a mom to mom sale in your area I say go to it.  Especially if you specifically want stuff for a little one.  It is annoying that you have to pay to get in, but I bet most people would spend that much in gas driving from garage sale to garage sale.
