Bucky The Pirate Ship Play Set Is A Hit With Jake Fans
For a long time Nick has been a big Jake and the Never Land Pirates fan. We’re talking big big fan. He loves all the characters, but his favorite character is Jake’s ship Bucky. He just thinks it’s the best. Bucky was even an early word for him. When his birthday came around this year I knew that I had to get him Bucky the pirate ship play set.
What’s so great about Bucky the Pirate Ship?
Bucky the pirate ship is truly a great toy, and if your little one is a Jake fan then I feel it is a must have. They really had a creative play in mind when they designed this one. When you push Bucky around the ship actually sways from side to side as if it were sailing in the ocean. It also plays 25 different songs/phrases that would please any Jake fan. It also shoots pretend water, and a button will release a hiding Tick Tock Croc. Your child can also open and close the captain’s quarters, make their toys fly around the crows nest, and let their toys slide off of Bucky.
As a parent I love some of the design features that they added to Bucky. All over the ship are little pegs that the toy characters fit on. This way when your little one is pushing Bucky around the toys won’t fall over! I know a lot of kids that would go crazy if their toys fell over or didn’t stay where they put them. The designers were really thinking with their heads on that one. They must be parents themselves.
What’s not so great about Bucky the Pirate Ship?
I often say that no toy is perfect, but Bucky the pirate ship pretty much is. Nick got it in April and we still haven’t even had to replace the batteries, and he plays with Bucky a lot. The only real downside is that you’ll really want to spend more money to get some of the other toys that go with it. Bucky comes with Jake and Scully. It will be a lot more fun if you have Izzy, Cubby, and Captain Hook too. Unfortunately you can’t buy them without getting at least on more Jake. Luckily one of our Jakes has a sword while the other one has a spy glass, so they each have their own play purposes.
I had hoped, when I bought Bucky, that Nick would really like it, and he certainly did. He still asks to play with it all the time. It’s the first toy he’s ever had that I’ve seen him truly play with (as an older kid would). He makes the characters talk to each other and he has them act out a scene. We’ve even been able to have a lot of fun playing with it together. This mommy gives Bucky the pirate ship two thumbs way up!
My kids LOVE Jake! There’s a new movie coming out tonight! We’re excited! LOL
We were home in time for the movie! We got Nick Jake toy figures in Disney and he was acting out the movie with them! It was too cute. Jake is so great.
Ah! I love this! My son is a huge Jake fan and I’ve been trying to think of good pirate-themed Christmas gifts for him. This will be perfect. I’ll have to get some extra “guys” too as he calls them.
Hehe Nick calls them “guys” too. Although his Jake people he calls by name. I bet your son will love it!
Hi, Elizabeth – I came over from the Saturday Showoff Linky party. It sounds like this toy was a hit with your son – I think you’re right about the developers being parents. Someone really gave a lot of thought to how children develop their knowledge and skills through play. I think it’s hard to design a toy for a child this ate that he/she can use creatively, especially one that ties into a character. Great review!
It really is. I think you also don’t think much about the design of a toy until you’ve had kids yourself. It really takes a lot to make a toy that is safe, will be fun for the child, and is easy to use.
