“Car Bye!”
As I said in last Saturday’s Silly Saturday post Nick’s first word was kitty. He said it when he was only six months old. With his first word coming so early I had expected him to be an early accomplished talker as I had been (I was saying three word sentences by my first birthday). That wasn’t to be though. Nick would play around with words, but he’d only use one here and there and then it would fizzle away. I have done my best to not compare Nick to other kids his age that have been talking up a storm. Still it has worried me some. There are days when working in education can be bad because I find myself constantly looking for signs for things such as Autism. Deep down I know he’s fine and that he would talk when he was ready (little perfectionist that he is), but I was so ready for him to start talking. Mostly I have reached the point where I just want him to be able to tell me what he wants.
If you’ll remember a few weeks ago I was looking up where Nick should be by two years. My research told me that he should have a vocabulary around 200 words and that he should be putting two words t together. At the time I was able to count 40 some words that Nick had in his vocabulary. He also had a few words that he put together, but most of them were ones that he always heard together such as “thank you” and “uh-oh,” so I wasn’t really sure if he realized that it was two different words.
Within the last two weeks Nick’s talking has really changed. All of the sudden he’s spewing words out everywhere. This last week has seen a ton of changes. He now feels comfortable talking everywhere. Now when I get him at daycare he is saying “bye” to everyone. Not long ago I was lucky if he would wave when I told him to say “bye” to his friends. In fact he says “bye” all the time. The other day he would run up to Jason, go “roar” and then switch to this cute little voice and say “bye!” and run off. It was so cute! He’s actually confused on where the word goes right now though. Instead of saying, “Bye Mickey,” he’ll say, “Mickey bye.” My favorite is that as we walk away from our car he’ll say, “car bye.” He really likes my new car, and cars as a whole, so we hear the word car a lot!
What are some funny and cute things your little said when they were learning to talk?

Aww. SO sweet I loved when my kids first learned to talk. I heard car a lot from my boys too.
I love the way their language develops! Ball was Zane’s first word and it was on repeat 24/7-LOL!!! Love the car:)
I hear “ball” a lot too. He’s such a boy!
My son’s first word was “vroom vroom”
That’s so cute!
Nice car! Isn’t it great when they finally start talking like crazy?
It’s the best! Everything he says just seems so cute :-).
My oldest’s first word was “ball” LOL. I kid you not. Everywhere we went, he would always say ball ball all the time. Every time there is a visitor at my house, he would walk up to them and say ball, maybe his way of saying hi. I dont know. But he is 6 now and talks up a storm. My middle child, i dont remember his first word but he talks a lot, like in a complete sentence. I’d give anything to hear them talking..
“Ball” is a big one for Nick too (and one of his earlier words). If that kid has a car or a ball he’s happy ;-).
It took a while for my son to start talking too. You wouldn’t believe it now as he never stops!!!!
I’m glad he’s starting to talk more! That must be exciting to see. 🙂
How cute! Congrats on the new car! I love the new car smell!
I love that smell too :-).
Congrats on the new car. We need one badly.
My lease was up. My car died right before Nick was born and the best deal I could get was a short lease. I love my new car though. I’m very glad to have a Focus again.
he’s a cutie! And I can imagine all those “Car” words! My boy was like that too!!
Happy to hear that he likes your new car. He should love his Birthday Party.
He got so excited with all of the stuff we bought. I think he’ll have a blast!
