A Growing Monkey 4 – 6 Months
4th Month
Nick became very talkative this month. One of the best times of day is when we sit and talk. Nick still hates tummy time and doesn’t care much about moving. He’ll roll to his side, but that’s about it. Not a lot has changed from last month. He still likes all the same shows and for the most part the same toys. The new thing he likes though is laying in his crib and watching the mobile go around. Nick sleeps a really long time at night now, but only takes short cat naps during the day. He is starting to like chewing things. He loves to grab our fingers and put them in his mouth to chew on. He still eats fast and he has a big appetite.
5th Month
It seems this month that Nick changes in some way every day. He still likes his old toys, but now he loves to play in his Jumperoo, bouncy seat, and Bumbo Seat. A lot of things were different this month. First Nick started eating solid foods. By the time the month was over he had tried rice cereal, oatmeal, apples mixed with either rice cereal or oatmeal, and bananas mixed with them. His solids meal is at the end of the day before bath time. Due to the solids Nick no longer needed his dream feed bottle, so now Nick only eats four times a day. This month Nick also started sleeping in his crib at night, although he still naps in the swing. At the very beginning of the month Nick found his feet. He just loves to reach down and grab them. We also found out this month that Nick is longer than we thought. He can wear 0 – 3 / 3 month onesies and rompers, but he needs 6 month pants and sleepers.
6th Month
This month was painful for Nick because he spent a lot of it teething and being sick. His first tooth came in on the first day of this month and the second one came in two days later. By the end of the month he was in pain from other teeth working their way in. Nick really changed this month from an infant baby to an older baby. He holds himself up more, although he can’t sit by himself yet, and he is able to hold and manipulate his toys. This month we added veggies to Nick’s lunch bottle. He loves them. He has tried carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, and peas. He has also tried prunes which he also loved. He also started eating in his highchair this month. Nick has also grown more. By the end of the month he was mostly wearing only 3-6 / 6 months clothes, having outgrown most of the rest. Before the month was over Nick developed a new exciting skill. He can turn the pages of a book!
