Daycare Fun

Sharing is caring!

Playing at Daycare

The last two days were big ones at Nick’s daycare.  I was lucky enough to get to be with Nick for both of his special events.  Well, maybe I wasn’t so lucky because that meant I was also hanging out with a lot of other screaming kids.  I had a terrible migraine on Thursday too, but I’ll suffer a lot to have those special moments with my little man.

Thursday

I don’t think I’m going to blow anyone away when I say that the big thing on Thursday was the Valentines Day party. They had asked all of the kids to dress up, but Nick hadn’t been to daycare all week, so we missed that memo. He still looked cute though because I had put him in his Red Wings outfit. Everyone said he looked like a big Valentine. He actually made some other little boys jealous because they wanted his jersey!

Due to my migraine, and Nick’s freakout over leaving, we arrived late. The kids were having music time, and they were also playing some Valentines games. I thought Nick would want to play too, but he would have none of it. He just clung to me.

Valentines Day Snack

Next the kids went downstairs for snack.  Of course Nick couldn’t eat most of what the parents had brought for the party, but there was a bowl of mixed fruit that really hit the spot with him.  Nick ate four huge helpings of it!  In fact every time he finished what he had he looked at me and said, “more!”  Of course I had to give him more then!

Collecting Valentines

After snack it was time for Valentines.  Each kid had a box to put theirs in.  They had set the Valentines up in the gym.  They had made a bunch of paper hearts and each kids Valentines went on a heart.  Then the kids went around the gym and picked up a Valentine from each pile.  Nick got to be the first kid to start.  He loved this part.  We think to him it was like cleaning and picking up.  I don’t know many other toddlers that enjoy cleaning so much.  I’ll say it again, he’s so me!

Putting Away Valentines

They ended the party with some dance time.  Of course I had to hold Nick and dance with him.  I think I was the one exhausted when it was all done!

Friday

Tree House

On Friday the daycare went to a place called Jungle Java for the morning.  This is one of those inside play structures.  They had a special area for the toddlers too.  I thought Nick would have fun because he loves to play on his slide.  Actually we call it, “play wee,” since that’s how Nick refers to it because Nana thought him to say, “weee,” as he goes down the slide.  I’m sure I got some odd looks yesterday when I asked Nick if he wanted to play wee!  Nick actually did not care for the place too much.

We got there when they opened, so it was pretty quite since our group was the only one there.  I tried to get Nick to play, but he just screamed and cried!  I got him up to the slide and had his uncle send him down to me, but Nick was not happy with us for that one!  I ended up sitting on the floor with him hoping that he would see his friends playing and would want to go and play too.  Yeah, not so much.  Like on Thursday Nick just clung to me.

Bottom of the Slide

He did like the look of the place, and he was happy if I carried him all over so he could watch the other kids.  My back had a hard time doing that for so long though.  I did get him to crawl up one time on his own, and then he did want to play on the slide, but he didn’t like getting up to it to slide down.  Needless to say it was a long morning.  The worst part was that it got really busy.  Picking a day to visit that was a day off for a lot of area schools (long weekend due to the holiday) wasn’t such a good idea.  A birthday group even showed up!

Climbing Up

When there was just an hour to go it was so busy.  It was loud, and their were kids everywhere.  Nick is not a fan of crowds and really loud noises (especially screaming kids even though he does it all the time).  I couldn’t take another hour of caring him around so we left and went to do the grocery shopping.  Nick has been invited to a 2nd birthday party at a place called Jump City in a few weeks, after yesterday’s disaster I don’t think I’ll be taking him to the party.

  1. I dont think it did so I will write again, lol! I am glad you guys got time to spend together even though you had a migraine. One on one time is the best! I don’t blame him one bit- I hate loud noises too! He is adorable! He must be around Zane’s age?

  2. I dont blame him one bit- I hate really loud places. I took Zane to a bouncing place and while he liked it, going during school vacation was a really bad idea! I am glad you guys had bonding time though and hope your migraine went away quickly!

    1. Nick’s own birthday party will likely be too much stimulation for him. It was last year. He’s really not a big group kind of kid. Personally I think a big kid birthday party for a 2 year old is a bit much anyways. They don’t even really get what’s going on.

  3. When Connor was about Nick’s age, and I was massively pregnant, we went to Jungle Java and he refused to come down from the top so I had to crawl up and get him! It’s a bit overwhelming for everyone!

  4. What a bad two days. I guess you can tell that he has been home a lot with Mom and Dad. I do think you should take him to the party’s and give it a try. You can always come home if it gets to noisy. Well that is just your Grandma talking. Good luck.

  5. That Jungle Java place looks so cool! I’m not a huge fan of crowds either — it stresses me out so I can only imagine how little kiddos feel!
