What is it about the combination of salty and sweet? Combining the two together just seems to hit the spot no matter which one you’re craving.
These Fritos Dessert Bars are seriously the best salty and sweet treat I’ve ever had.
The recipe comes from a friend of my mom’s. He gave her the recipe several years ago and we’ve both made it many times. It is such an easy recipe to make which is must in my book. I just don’t have enough time for making complicated recipes.
These Frito Scoop bars are always a hit. They usually are quite a conversation item as well because people often aren’t sure what they are. Once they find out they always have to give them a try. I’ve never heard anything but raves about these bars after someone has tried them. They are just so good!
What You Need to Make Fritos Dessert Bars
- Party Size Bag of Fritos Scoops
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Cup of Peanut Butter
- 1 Cup Light Karo Syrup
- 1 Bag of Chocolate Chips (this type of chocolate chips work the best as they melt better)
How to Make Fritos Scoop Dessert Bars
As I mentioned these dessert bars are really easy to make. The recipe only requires five ingredients and it takes all of 10 minutes to throw together. See, super easy!
The first thing you need to do is put a layer of Fritos Scoops in the pan. You’ll want to use a rectangular pan that’s approximately 9×13. Make sure that it’s one that you can cut in as you’ll be cutting the bars in that pan.
The easiest way to the Fritos in is to dump most of the bag of the Scoops into your pan. Then go through and turn some of them. You want to get the majority of the scoops facing up. Meaning the “scoop” part is facing up. That way when you pour the peanut butter mixture on it will get held in the scoop.
Once the Fritos Scoops are ready to go it’s time to make the melted peanut butter mixture. To do this you are going to heat the sugar, peanut butter, and Karo Syrup in a pan on the stove. Heat it until boiling and then let it boil for 1 minute.
When it is done boiling remove the peanut butter mixture from the heat and pour it all over the Fritos Scoops. You want to try to distribute it as evenly as possible across all of the Scoops in the pan.
As soon as you’re done pouring cover it well with the chocolate chips. The heat from the mixture will melt the chocolate chips, so you don’t want to add them right away.
