Letters To My Son – December 2015

Dear Nick,
Well, what is there to say about November? You were sick. This has become a routine that you carry out every year. Halloween comes around and you get sick, and that cold becomes a sinus infection that sticks around. Then the holidays hit and you’re sick and cranky and I finally have to take you to the doctor to get antibiotics. I have to tell you child that I am very tired of this routine. Although I know you’re not much of a fan of it either. Your sickness truly took over the entire month. Due to you feeling so miserable I ended up with only one picture of you from the whole month! How awful is that? Luckily with so much going on this month I should have plenty of opportunities to take your picture for the next letter.
Your interests this month have been all over the place. One minute you’re into trains and the next you’re playing with Rescue Bots. Although I figure that’s really not a bad thing because all of the things you seem to be into are things that you’re getting for Christmas. I truly cannot wait for Christmas morning. It’s more fun when you have a child than it was when you were a child yourself!
Your biggest obsession for the month without a doubt though was Peanuts. As soon as McDonald’s came out with their new Peanuts toys we knew we were doomed to a lot of McDonald’s food! Now we all like McDonald’s, but a person can only eat it so much! You loved collecting the Peanuts toys though and you have played with them a lot. We offered to take you to see the new movie, but you were so traumatized over how loud Planes Fire and Rescue was at the theater that you refused to go see The Peanuts Movie. I’m sure we’ll be buying the movie as soon as it comes out on DVD though!
After a long time of loving anything to do with numbers (which honestly you still love), you’re starting to really get excited about letters. Now that you know how to spell your name you are constantly finding the letters for it on things and pointing them out. We can be sitting at a red light in the car and all of a sudden you’ll yell out, “There’s a K!,” or any other letter that’s found in your name. There’s nothing better to you than when you can find all four letters from your name on one sign!
We had our first snowfall of the season in November. We only got a few inches, although Nana got over 2 feet and she only lives at the other end of the county! We had just enough that it seemed worth shoveling. It was pretty warm when the snow came which made the conditions not too bad to shovel in, but it made for some very heavy snow. We waited until the evening to go out and shovel. I’m not the biggest snow fan, but I always think it’s better to be outside in it when it’s dark. You had so much fun playing in the snow! Sometimes you helped me shovel and sometimes you ran around to the back yard to play on your slide. Even I have admit that sliding into the snow is fun. What I loved most was how you “helped” me by using your shovel to take some snow out of one of my already shoveled piles of snow to carry it over to another pile. You were so proud to be helping me though!
So now it’s December, and my what a big month we’ve already had! I’m certainly going to have a lot to share in next month’s letter!!!
