Letters To My Son – October 2013

Sharing is caring!

On the WED Way

October 4, 2013

Dear Nick,

Well September is over.  That is both a good and a bad thing.  With the ending of September it means that Mommy’s very long work days (10 hour days 4 days a week) are over.  I hate those shifts, but I think you might almost hate them more.  You had a really hard time seeing so little of me for the first three weeks of the month. Of course we rectified that by being together 24/7 on vacation, and that’s why it’s sad that the month is done.  It means that our vacation is already over!  It came and went so fast that it feels like all I did was blink and it was done!

Nick's First Ride

We had the best time going to Walt Disney World last week.  You were so good!  You’re only real problems came if you got too hungry.  You are so your Uncle David!  We were usually able to work around it though.  Other than that you only problem was waiting.  Of course what toddler doesn’t have that problem?  You would actually be really good until you saw the ride vehicles.  Then you didn’t understand why you couldn’t get on them right then.  If we told you that you had to wait though you would give us this miserable sounding, “OK,” but you’d be good.

On the Tea Cups

I know a lot of people don’t want to take toddlers to Disney, but I’m so glad we took you.  I know you won’t remember the trip, but Mommy, Nana, Grandma, and Grandpa will.  I’ll never forget how you started out scared of the characters (after you loved them last year), and then slowly warmed up to them.  Or how when we saw the show was going on at the castle you started screaming, “Mickey Minnie!!” when you saw them up there.  I also will never forget the look of awe on your face every time you experienced something new.  Seeing Disney through your eyes made it all new for me too.  I’m sure Walt smiles down every time he sees a little one like you in awe of the magic, and for you it truly was real.

Mickey Minnie

Besides vacation not a lot happened last month.  I worked a lot, so it seemed we were busy running errands whenever I was home.  There was a lot to do before we left for vacation.  We did manage to spend some time playing at the park.  We made it quite a few times which was pretty good considering the month was on the cold side (I was very ready to head to Florida).  We also went out to Nana’s quite a bit which you loved.  It was nice because we got to spend some time with Uncle David.  Uncle David actually ended up flying down to Florida and spent some time with us which was really nice because he leaves today to go back to Colorado, and I’m not sure when we’ll see him next.

With Uncle David

So on to October!  We’ve got lots going on this month, so I’m sure it will fly by as fast as September did.

Love,

Mommy

    1. I loved that they were able to do some bonding. My brother has always wanted a nephew to play with too. He has always said that he didn’t want kids, but he wanted to have a nephew to do that stuff with. Nick is so much like him too. It was such a bummer when he headed back to Colorado a few weeks ago, but it was so cute because Nick couldn’t stop saying goodbye and throwing him kissies.

  1. Wow, what an incredible trip to WDW! And a great post that I am SURE he is going to love later on in his life! What a great way to document such fun times!

  2. Look at the smiles on Uncle David’s face. So very special. Love the letter and I can’t believe our trip is all over.

    1. Isn’t it great? I have another picture of him running with Nick, but they’re kind of far away. He had such a good time he wants to go with us on our next vacation. 🙂
