Nick’s First Vacation: A Day At Sea (Part 2)

Sharing is caring!

When we got back to our rooms after not seeing Mickey we found that the stewardess hadn’t finished cleaning them yet.  Since we didn’t feel that we could hang out in our rooms (since we wanted them to be cleaned) we decided to explore some more.  We felt like being outside, so we went up to the pool and sports decks.

When we were wandering around the sports deck we found that the mini-golf course was pretty empty, so we decided to play a round.  Obviously Nick had no clue how to play, but he still had a lot of fun hitting the ball and running after it (yes, he cheated terribly).  The only real problem was that the greens were still soaked from the rain, and Nick kept sitting down in them, so he got soaked too!

When our game was over we went off to explore some more.  On the pool deck we found a little store near the mid-ship elevators.  In the store we found some Finding Nemo bath toys that we felt Nick had to have (I had forgotten to bring any bath toys with us).

After making our purchase we headed back down to our rooms.  Our room still wasn’t clean, but mom’s was, so we went to spend some time in her room.  Nick was happy to play for awhile, but eventually he started getting really fussy.  He seemed to be tiered, so I decided to take him back to our room for a rest/nap.

Even after the time we spent in mom’s room our room still wasn’t clean, so I put out the, “Do Not Disturb,” sign and then attempted to get Nick settled for a nap.  He wasn’t too happy with the idea, so I laid down on the couch since it was right next to the pack and play.  He did settle down eventually, although I don’t think he slept any.  On the other hand I did doz a bit.  Eventually it was nearing lunch time, and it was obvious Nick was not going to sleep, so I got him up.

For lunch we went upstairs to the fast food (Cars themed) stands by the pool.  Nick had a hot dog, fries, and lots of grapes.  Mom and I had some yummy deli sandwiches (the turkey and cranberry one was especially good).  Once we had finished our lunch mom went to Cabanas (the lunch buffet on the same deck) and got some desserts that she brought back to where we were sitting.

Nick had eaten a really good lunch which had restored his energy and good disposition.  It was easy to see that he was certainly not ready for an afternoon nap (especially since he had just had a rest), so as we finished dessert we thought about what we could do after lunch.  Mom suggested we go put our swimsuits on and take Nick to play at Nemo’s Reef.  Children that aren’t potty trained aren’t allowed in the pool, but they can play at Nemo’s Reef which is a water play area.

After heading back to our rooms to change we went back up to the pool deck.  As soon as we were nearing Nemo’s Reef something seemed wrong.  First we noticed that it seemed deserted.  Then I noticed that the water wasn’t on.  Finally we saw that a Cast Member was standing in front of the entrance blocking it.  Mom went over to ask the Cast Member about what was going on.  It seemed that a child had gotten sick and the the play area had to be closed for cleaning.  We were told that the cleaning would take three hours!

At that point we didn’t know what to do with Nick.  Finally we decided we’d give him a bath so we wouldn’t have to worry about it later.  Our room had a special round tub, so we told Nick that we were going to go play in the bedroom pool.  He loved it!  We gave him his Nemo toys and he happily played for a long time, and he didn’t even fuss when I cleaned him.

Eventually he had to get out though.  We dried him off and put him back into his clothes for a nap.  We had to close the curtains to make the room dark (not normal for him since the curtains in his room don’t even close), and I had to sit for some time in the chair next to him, but he did eventually fall to sleep.  Then it was time for a coffee break!
