Crazy Holidays

Sharing is caring!

Is it just me or do the holidays seem to get crazier every year?  Obviously adding Nick to the mix last year added a whole new dimension of craziness to our holiday festivities, but it is more than that.  My calendar is getting so full that I can hardly find any space to write!

Since Thanksgiving we’ve been pretty busy with lots of little things to do and a party here and there.  Actually it seems we’ve been busy since long before that because we’ve had so much holiday shopping to do this year.  Still it has been tame compared to what we have coming up.  Last weekend was the best because it was pretty laid back, but we didn’t get to enjoy it the way I had hoped because Nick and I spent it sick.

This weekend isn’t too bad.  The only planned thing we have is my mother-in law’s annual Christmas party on Saturday night.  Other than that our only plans are for more shopping on Sunday.  The daycare adopts a few families every year, and we have to go shopping to get presents for them.  We have done this with different organizations since I was a kid, and it has always been something that I have looked forward too.  It is so much fun to go and buy other kids some toys.

Next weekend gets a little crazier.  On Friday night we have the Christmas party at the daycare.  I’m still not sure how we’re going to work that out.  I think I’m going to have to take nice clothes for us to change into since we probably won’t really have time to go all the way home.  Then on Saturday it’s my grandmother’s birthday, so we’re doing a brunch to celebrate.  Then we have to come back and go to a first birthday party for one of Nick’s friends (the son of one of my friends).  On Sunday I can finally rest!  I know you’re all laughing at me for even thinking we’ll rest.  I don’t think I know what the word means!

Then Christmas weekend arrives.  This has got to be the craziest Christmas weekend of my entire life.  Friday I probably won’t work, so Nick and I will go grocery shopping and try to relax a little.  On Saturday we have the day to rest, but then the craziness starts.  My 10 year high school reunion is that night.  Nick will be staying with my mom (his first night away from us, I hope we all survive!).  Jason and I decided to get a hotel room in town so we wouldn’t have to drive all the way home when it’s late, plus the next day is our anniversary so it seemed a nice way to celebrate.  Then on Sunday after getting Nick from my mom’s we’re going over to do Christmas with Jason’s family.  On Monday I get to spend the day making food for Christmas dinner.  In the early evening we’ll go to church and then after we go to my aunt’s to celebrate.  On Christmas day we do our family Christmas and then Nick and I will go out to my mom’s when Jason goes to work.  We’ll do Christmas with my mom and then we’ll go to my grandparents for dinner and to open a few more presents.  Finally on the next day mom and I will get up early and go shopping (we’re day after Christmas people and not Black Friday people).

I think on Thursday (the 27th) I’m going to fall into an exhausted heap!

Anyone else have crazy plans?
