Preparing For Our SNACKATION At Walmart #Snackation

For weeks I’ve been watching Facebook posts about kids going back to school. Every time I saw one I would breathe a sigh of relief and be grateful that we still had weeks to go. Then I realized the other day that those weeks were numbered. The end of summer vacation and my time as a work at home mom was nearing a close! It is so sad that our time is almost over, but we can still make the time that we have left some of the best days we have had yet! One way that I knew we could celebrate and have fun was by taking a snackation!

What is a snackation? Well it’s any fun activity that includes some yummy snacks! You can go far from home or you can combine your snackation with a staycation. It doesn’t matter as long as fun, people, and yummy snacks are involved!

We haven’t traveled all that far from home this summer, but we have done a lot of fun stuff. The one thing we haven’t done is visiting a water ark. Nick’s been to the pool a few times, but what we really needed a water park day. An experience that would be all new for Nick! Of course a picnic basket full of yummy snacks is the perfect accompaniment to such a day, so off we went to Walmart to stock up for our snackation!

I knew that we would be able to find everything that we needed for our snackation at Walmart. Actually we found all of the snacks we needed plus a few other things. We can never seem to go shopping for food without picking up a few extra things in the process!

We knew before we walked into the store that we wanted yummy snack food that we could easily pack for a picnic lunch. We were planning to get up and mostly head right out to the water park, so we didn’t want to have to waste any time making food to take with us. First we headed to the PB&J aisle to grab some Jiff to Go Dippers. We were planning on buying some snacks to dip in them, but then we found a set that comes with pretzels. There were three in the box which was just the number we needed!

Next we went to grab some Smucker’s Fruit Fills. I’ll admit that the drinkable fruit pouches are not really my thing, but Nick loves them! In fact he made me open the box up as soon as we got home so he could have one! Luckily with four pouches in the box there were still plenty left to take for our picnic the next day.

Finally it was off to the frozen food section to get some Uncrustables. Have you had these before? They are actually really good! You keep them frozen until just before you want to eat them. Then you take them out of the freezer and let them defrost for 30 minutes to an hour. The bread is really soft, and there are quite a few flavors to choose from. Mom and Nick went right for the box with hazelnut spread. I’m a weirdo and don’t really care for hazelnut spread, so I grabbed the traditional PB&J box with strawberry jelly. It’s all about the strawberry! I was really tempted to try the peanut butter and honey ones though. I’ve always loved peanut butter and honey sandwiches!

With all of our snackation items in our cart it was time to head to the front to check out. It was time to pay and go home. We needed to have dinner and then get to bed early because we had a fun day at the water park ahead of us!
