Day Out With Thomas The Celebration Tour

Disclosure: I am receiving free passes for my family to visit The Henry Ford and to take a ride on Thomas. All opinions though are my own.

It’s that time of year again. The time of year when Thomas the Train leaves the Island of Sodor to come visit some of us on his Day Out With Thomas tour! A tour that’s not to be missed if it comes to your area. Have you been part of Day Out With Thomas before? If you have than you know what a great event it is, if you haven’t than you’re really in for a treat!

Nick loves trains. He’s always liked Thomas as well, but in the last year he has started to really like Thomas. I let him watch a few short episodes On Demand at the end of everyday to wind down. Do you know how many episodes of Thomas I have seen? It might be a miracle that I don’t dream about him. He loves all of the different Thomas stories. He has also started collecting the Thomas the Train TrackMaster set. He loves to recreate the stories that he watches. To say he’s excited to go see Thomas in a few weeks is an understatement. Day Out With Thomas is a day that he looks forward to every year, and this year is certainly no different.

I always feel that we’re extra lucky too because we get to see Thomas at Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford. We love visiting all of the historic homes and buildings. Just being able to walk around the village is so nice and relaxing. Not surprisingly Nick really loves visiting the round house. I know he can’t wait until he’s old enough to help turn the antique engine on the tracks outside.

The Day Out With Thomas: The Celebration Tour 2015 is truly a fun event for the entire family. Of course kids get a chance to meet and ride on their favorite little blue train, but there are also a lot of fun activities as well. At The Henry Ford one of Nick’s favorite side activities is to see the large model train set that is put on by The Detroit Historical Society. I never can tell who truly enjoys the set-up more. The kids or the adults that run it!

The Day Out with Thomas tour will stop in 42 different U.S. cities.  The tour is actually in it’s 20th year. By the time the tour is done it is expected that it will have welcomed nearly one million passengers.  Thomas will be visiting Greenfield Village for three back-to-back weekends starting April 25.  During that time families can take a 25 minute ride around the Village on their favorite engine, meet Sir Topham Hatt®, Controller of the Railway, and enjoy the Thomas & Friends themed activities.
