Wordless Wednesday: Fireworks

Sharing is caring!

We live in a small town, but every year our town puts on an amazing fireworks display.  Instead of doing them during the 4th of July though they do them on the Friday night of fair week, which happened to be this past Friday.  We’re lucky because we don’t have to go anywhere to see them.  We actually have an amazing view from Nick’s bedroom.  The last two years Nick has slept through them, but not this year.  In fact I now know that he is deathly afraid of them, and I’m very glad that I wasn’t planning to take him to see any when we go to Disney this fall.  There are lots of things I could do to help him enjoy the fireworks in Disney, but I think avoidance is easier at this point.  I tried to convince him that they were pretty, but he didn’t agree with me.  After a few minutes I gave up and took him into the other room to watch T.V. while we waited the 20 minute display out.  He did pretty well until the grand finale.  It was long and loud and the poor little thing just whimpered and cowered in my arms.

Here are a few pictures that I got of this years display (of the four minutes that I got to see).  I don’t think they’re too bad considering I took them with my tablet, through a window, while holding a terrified toddler!

  1. He’ll warm up one day and totally love being able to see them from his room.

  2. I love the fireworks! I hope to catch a few displays of them this year with my kids. There’s just something magical about them. 🙂

    1. I had just realized that my tablet took really good pictures, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I must say I was pretty impressed with how it did.

  3. I don’t think I’ve ever taken my children to see a fireworks display. they saw them at Legoland in California but not on the 4th. We usually just buy a giant box of fireworks from Costco and light them off in the street by our house.

  4. Our town does them before the 4th of July too. We can see the fireworks from our front living room which is nice, since we don’t have to deal with crowds 🙂

  5. Great pictures. I really like the last one.

My oldest still couldn’t handle a fireworks display… of course, I can’t judge since my mom still loves to tell the story of me hiding under the blanket and screaming during the July 4 fireworks nearly 40 years ago.
