Nick’s First Vacation: Grand Cayman (Part 3)

That night we were eating at the Enchanted Garden.  I can’t say any of us were crazy excited about the dinner.  It was just so-so.  To be honest the entire dinner just wasn’t the best that night.  I can’t even remember exactly what did it now, but I ended up in a bit of a funk at the end of the meal.  By the time the main course was done I felt that I was as well.  Mom and our friends really wanted to go on the Aquaduck after dinner, but I just wasn’t feeling it.  Still no one wanted to let up on the idea.  Nick got really fussy at the end of the main course as well (which didn’t help me) and for a little time we couldn’t figure out why.  Then I smelled something stinky and realized he needed a diaper change.  I didn’t have any wipes on me, so I had to take Nick all of the way back to our stateroom.

Since I wasn’t in the best mood I almost didn’t go back to the restaurant after I had gotten Nick all cleaned up, but decided to in the end.  When we arrived everyone was just ordering dessert, but there was nothing on the menu I wanted, so I decided to pass.  While we were gone it had been decided that my grandparents would take Nick for a walk after dinner and the rest of us (minus Jason) would go ride the Aquaduck.  I didn’t want to be a party pooper, so I finally agreed to go.

Since Nick and I weren’t getting any desert we had some time to kill before I needed to change into my swimsuit, so we wandered down to the stores.  We looked around and I would hand Nick different toys and things to look at.  Well, he ended up falling in love with a stuffed Jake (of Jake and the Never Land Pirates).  He wouldn’t let it go.  This was crazy to me because Nick isn’t a big stuffed animal kid.  He loves things (he’ll hug his plastic Toodles over and over), but he’s just doesn’t go for stuffed toys.  Of course I had to get it for him!  We looked around a little more before heading upstairs.

When we got back to the room Jason kept Nick entertained for a few minutes while I put on my suit.  Then I got Nick back into his stroller (with Jake of course) and we went down to Mom’s room.  Then Grandma and Grandpa took Nick out for a walk and Mom and I headed up to the pool deck.

It turned out that it just wasn’t our night.  When we got to the pool we found the area empty.  It seems that there had been lighting spotted, so they had to close the pools down.  The Cast Members told us that we could go over to the adult hot tub though since it was in a covered area.  We asked the Cast Member to let our friends know where we were when they arrived and headed over to the hot tub.

The hot tubs are really cool because the bottom is clear so you can see down to the ocean, but since it was night time you couldn’t see anything.  We sat for a little bit, but we really weren’t enjoying ourselves.  The water was warm, but Mom and I both prefer it scalding.  We continued to see lightning in the distance, so we decided to give up and scrap the plan for the evening.

We headed back to the room and I found that Nick had returned as well, so I decided to give him a bath.  I got him all clean and wouldn’t you know it…he had an accident in the tub!  Now this is not a normal thing for Nick.  The only time such a thing had happened in the past was when had been on antibiotics (we decided he had issues with it on the cruise because of all the fruit he was eating).  I called for Jason and had him take care of Nick while I tried to take care of the mess.  I of course didn’t have any cleaning supplies on hand, so I ran up to the drink stand and grabbed a wad of sanitizing hand wipes and used those to disinfect the tub.

Nick wasn’t ready for bed, and was not a happy camper, so I decided to take him for another walk.  I kept trying to find where mom had gone so she could walk with us, but I couldn’t find her.  I finally gave up and went out to walk with Nick by myself.  Walking has always worked to help calm him down.  Of course we found mom outside of our room as we were coming back from our walk.  She and our friends were going to check out some of the clubs since our friends had already put their kids into the child services for the evening.    I was not up for that although I had of course been welcomed to come.  Instead I took Nick inside, got us both ready for bed, and we all crashed.  It had been a blah evening and I was ready for a new day.
