Nick’s First Vacation: Boarding The Fantasy (Part 1)

Sharing is caring!

Since we didn’t need to leave until around 11:00 to board the Fantasy we didn’t have to get up too early.  After the last few days Nick was wiped out, so he didn’t even stir when my alarm went off, or as I got ready for the day.  I wanted him to get some good sleep, so I left him and Jason sleeping and went to get a few things done.

First I went out to the car.  I had realized that we had forgotten a few miscellaneous things that we needed in the room.  As I walked out I called mom to see how the rest of the group was doing.  At that point (around 7:30) they had made it to the airport and were waiting to board the plane.  She told me that she had packed two different sippy cups and that she’d call me after they had landed.

When I got to the car I started to grab the things I needed.  Then I realized how messy the car had gotten from the trip down, so I decided to clean it up a little.  Nothing major, but it felt good to get rid of all the trash.  Once I had the car looking pretty good I gathered up the items I had come out for as well as a big bag of trash.  The latter I dropped off at an outdoor trash can.

My next stop was the resort store.  More than anything I wanted to get Nick a new sippy cup.  I knew mom was bringing some, but I couldn’t take one more meal with the one we had brought.  When I reached the store it wasn’t quite 8:00 and the store wasn’t open.  There actually were a number of other people waiting to go in, so I found a spot to hang around with them.  As soon as they opened up I went in search of a new cup.  I found the one we had seen the day before, but none with any handles.  Nick needed handles to drink from a cup by himself, but desperate times called for desperate measures, so I grabbed the handless cup.  I figured that he’d at least use it some day even if he wasn’t so fond of it on our trip.  Since I was going to make a purchase I decided to do a little more shopping.  Plus it was so nice to shop by myself (I know all of you moms understand)!

With purchases in hand I headed back for the room to wake up the boys and get our day started.  It was late enough by the time I got back that Nick didn’t mind getting up.  I got him dressed and then sat him on the bed to watch some Disney Channel while he ate.  I sat the tray that we had gotten the night before in front of him so he had a nice surface to put his food on (eating in the room can be hard when you have a toddler that needs a high chair).  Then I quickly rinsed out the new cup and filled it with milk.  I put it to Nick’s mouth and he drank from it happily.  The new cup was a success!!!!!  With a working cup Nick was happy to eat, and he ate well.  He then felt so good that he actually got on the floor and started crawling around and playing with the new ball that we had bought him the day before.  It was such a wonderful sight to see!

With Nick happy I went about the task of getting the bags all organized and tagged for the cruise ship.  I knew that we didn’t need all of the bags that we had brought, so I tried to condense things down as much as could (while making sure the was still some souvenir room).  Once they were ready to go we started taking them all out to the car.

When that awful task was over we had some time to spare before we needed to leave, so we went to play around the resort.  Nick liked seeing the large characters.  He was still in a really good mood.  He even wanted to hold my hand and walk around some.  When it was getting close to the time we needed to leave we headed inside to get a snack at the food court.  You can get lunch when you get on the ship, but we knew that by the time we traveled there, went through security, got checked in, and sat down to eat it would be a long time (and that would be no good for Nick).

Once we were done we headed back to the car to drive to the Fantasy!
