A Successful Second Easter

Nick’s second Easter was a great success.  I think one of the best parts was that even though it was a holiday no one in our house was sick!  That is a success all by itself.

Saturday was a busy day, but we did find some time to prepare of Easter.  Nana came over and she brought Nick some Easter presents.  I know Nick’s birthday is in two weeks, but this kid is so board of all of his toys.  He was in dire need of some new ones.  During our crazy day we found time to dye some Easter Eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide (even if Nick can’t eat them).

On Sunday morning I made cinnamon rolls, which is the breakfast that we have for every holiday, and Nick loved his.  He ate the whole thing!  Nick found his first Easter Basket quickly, and liked the toy ball that was in it so much that he did not have any desire to go find his other basket or any of the eggs.  After days of him wanting to do nothing but walk around I was over the moon over the fact that he had a toy that he actually wanted to sit and play with.  We did eventually get him up to go find the other things.  We really didn’t expect a lot from him, but it was fun.  The Easter Bunny brought him a Detroit Tigers hat, a Mickey Mouse ball, a Little Einstein book, and a bathtub Sophie.  I’d say for an almost one year old that has a birthday soon he made out pretty well.

Later in the afternoon we got together with the family.  I had luckily gotten Nick to take a good morning nap, so he was able to stay awake until we left to come home.  He likes seeing the other family members, but sometimes all of the people and the noise that so many people make overwhelm him, so there were times that we had to find a quite spot to help him calm down.  I hope he’s better able to handle the craziness on his birthday since we’ll be at our own home.  Nick enjoyed his dinner though.  He had Nana’s green Jello (which he loves) and a roll.  It was the first time he had had real bread.  We just made sure to avoid the outside of the roll since some places coat the outside with eggs to make it look good.

All in all it was a very enjoyable Easter.
