Having Snackation Fun At The Water Park #Snackation

It’s hard to believe that school is starting soon. We have had such such cool temperatures all summer until about a month ago. It honestly feels like summer has just started. We were lucky enough to take advantage of one of the few 90 degree days with a trip to the water park though. To get me into a pool it has to be hot, so I was really happy with the weather we had for our outing. You may have read my fairly recent post about how we were preparing for a fun snackation, well I wanted to tell you all about how our day went!
When I left off with my last post we were getting ready to finish off the evening so we could get ready to head to the water park the next morning for our snackation. My mother was coming along for the fun, so she spent the night at our house. We wanted to get up and get going the morning. We knew with the warm temps that the water park was going to get busy, so we wanted to be there before it even opened. We had known in advance that we wanted to do this, so when we had shopped for food the night before we had picked items that we could just throw into the picnic basket.
Our food choices worked out as well as we had hoped. It made getting out the door so easy, and we were fairly on time except for the fact that we had to go back after driving a few blocks when I realized I had forgotten my cellphone. Don’t forget your phone when it includes the camera that you need to take pictures for a blog post!
We got to the water park about 30 minutes before it opened and as we had expected there was already a line. Mom dropped me off at the line and then she and Nick joined me after they had parked. Except for bottled water food isn’t allowed inside the water park, so we left the picnic basket in the car. I was glad that the Uncrustables had started out frozen since they were going to be hanging out in the hot car for some time!
After getting out of the ticket line we got into another line to wait to go into the water park when it opened. As soon as it did we made a beeline for some chairs near the lazy river and the play structure. We were lucky enough to actually be the first ones into the lazy river, so we got to float along without bumping into people for quite some time. Eventually we did get out and check out some other areas of the park.
Nick has never liked getting water dumped on his head (hair washing used to be really rough), so he wasn’t much into the play structure. There wasn’t any way to play on it without having water dumped on your head. He kept walking towards the stairs and then deciding he wasn’t up for trying it. Maybe next year.
We ended up going over to the wave pool and walking around the edge of it while the waves were rolling. Then we went to another area where Nick played with some water spouts followed by some play time in the pool type area. It wasn’t long though before Nick was asking to go back to the lazy river. We took him back, but we were all starting to get hungry, so we didn’t stay in there too long. It was time to get our snackation on!
When we got out of the lazy river we grabbed our stuff and head out of the park to eat in the picnic area. On the way we stopped at the car to grab our basket full of goodies. Then we headed off to find a somewhat shady spot where we could spread our towels and sit down to eat. I can’t say that I have the best pictures to show you of our fun picnic, but we all dug into the food so fast that there really wasn’t time! We were hungry and the food was so good!
I don’t know what I liked better. The Uncrustable sandwich or the Jiff To Go Dipper. So much peanut buttery goodness! I was really impressed with the Uncrustable. It was quite yummy, and even though it starts off frozen the bread was so soft. With the crust cut off it truly is a perfect sandwich for a picky eater. Nick turned out to be a huge fan of the Hazelnut Uncrustable. In fact he ended up eating two! Well, he wore a lot of it. Those ones might have gotten a bit too warm in the car.
After we had finished the yummy part of our snackation we picked up our trash and got ready to head back into the water park. We hadn’t had a ton to eat, which is nice when you’re heading into a pool, but the peanut butter really helped fill our tummies up. None of us felt hungry when we were done.
When we went back in we played in the mostly the same areas. Nick sure loved the lazy river, but it had gotten pretty crowded by the time lunch was done. Before we left we went back over to the pool area. While we were there I noticed the line for the snack bar. It had to be at least a 30 minute wait. I pointed it out to mom and we both agreed that we were very happy that we had brought our own snacks, and we’d do it again next time.
Eventually the time came to head home. Luckily we didn’t stay much longer than we did because I ended up with a pretty bad sunburn on my back even though I had used sunscreen. All that time bent over a tube in the lazy river! Our snackation turned out to be an absolute blast! Even better, I now know that Nick loves Hazelnut Uncrustables! When you have a picky eater like him a new food that they like is always a huge win!
