Dear Nick,

Well another Halloween has come and gone.  Oh, wait, that’s Charlie Brown’s line.  You’ve watched that show so many times this week, and played with the book on the tablet with it so much, that I’m speaking the lines!  You have become a huge Snoopy fan this month.  You may even like it more than Uncle David, and that’s saying a lot.  Watching you interact with it (movie, tablet book, real book) has been been so much fun.  You were supposed to be Jake (of Jake and the Never Land Pirates) for Halloween, but you did not like putting on the one piece outfit, so I put you in last year’s monkey outfit (pants and a coat seemed normal to you).  It fit for Trick-or-Treating in town last Friday night, but you grew about an inch one night this week, so yesterday it didn’t fit nearly as well.  Of course it’s amazing that you still fit into an 18month costume!  We had planned on putting Jake on your pumpkin to go with your costume, but since you didn’t end up wearing the costume we figured we would save Jake for another time.  Instead I had Daddy carve Snoopy on your pumpkin.  Oh man did you love that, and Daddy did a great job!

This month has been so much fun.  This is the first time that you’ve ever really gotten into a holiday.  You loved seeing all the holiday decorations.  I lost count of how many nights we’ve put you in the car and driven around town to see the Halloween lights.  We’d slow down so you could look at things, and we had hardly passed a decorated house when you would say, “find more Halloween.”  It really was too cute.  I’m sure you’ll love looking at the Christmas lights soon, and we’re already wondering what we’ll do when January comes and there are no more lights and decorations to look at!

You really got into the Trick-or-Treating spirit too.  This was the first year that you actually went out for Halloween, and you had a blast.  The rain wasn’t about to stop you.  We covered our whole road, which was three blocks.  At one point you even turned toward me and said, “It’s fun!”  You loved getting home and handing candy out to the kids too.  You kept looking for the “Trick-or-Treaters” which was kind of funny considering I could not get you to say “Trick-or-Treat.”  You were very good at saying “Thank you,” though.  We also got to trick-or-treat in town last week too, which really gave you a feeling of how this whole Halloween thing worked.”

Oh how you’ve grown this month.  You are becoming so independent.  Well, except for when you were teething this month.  Every time I think we’re done with teething you start up again!  You love sitting and playing with your toys.  Daddy and I just love to watch how your imagination works.  You’re also very chatty, and you’re really starting to tell us what you want which is making things easier for all of us.

Your favorite phrases right now are, “What’s that?” (which is as bad as the “why” phase) and “Oh no, what happened?”  My very favorite thing you said was during nap a few weeks ago.  You’re not napping much any more, but I still make sure you have some quiet time in your crib.  One day I had put you down, but you kept trying to get me to come back.  You’d call for me and then say, “It’s not working!”  Nana was here at the time and boy did we have a good giggle over that.

I can’t believe it’s November all ready!  We’ll be getting the Christmas stuff out very soon (yep we’re the crazies that decorate early, but by December 26th I’m ready for it to come down).  I just know the rest of the year is going to fly by.  I can’t wait to see what this month has in store for us!
