Sharing is caring!

Dear Nick,
I have to say that I am so happy that August is done. You may want to take note of this day because you’ll likely never hear me say that again. I love the summer months, and I never want to wish them away, but this past August was exhausting. Nana had a lot going on this month, so she was crazy busy, and at the end of the month we were busy with potty training. I don’t mind saying that I have dreaded this day from the day you were born. The oldest child in our family always seems to have a very hard time with it, and you have been no exception. I won’t get into the details though. I’ll just say that things are improving and it’s a relief to be well into it now.

While August was a busy month there wasn’t a whole lot that we did, but you did we did take you to see your first movie in the theater. We took you to see
Planes: Fire & Rescue. You were not a fan of the previews. They were way too loud for you and you cried that you wanted to leave, but once the movie started and you saw your Dusty you were fine. In fact you were mesmerized for the entire movie. We had brought some snacks for you, but you didn’t care. You were way too involved with the movie to even think of eating. After the movie we bought you
some, alright all, of the new die cast toys. They were worth the investment though because you have played, and played, and played with them! You love having them act out parts of the movie. I know you can’t wait to see the movie again.

You continue to grow up on me. When I write these letter I’m always amazed at how much you can continue to change. You are a complete chatterbox now days. You can talk our ears off, and it’s so cute. You’re also at the age where you take in
everything. I am constantly amazed when I get off the phone and you ask me a question, or tell me something, that has to do with what I was talking about on the phone. Most of the time I don’t think you’re even paying attention to my conversation. Yeah, no talking about Christmas presents around you this year!

The best part of the month though was when I got a call from the allergy clinic and we found out that your allergy numbers were in the negatives! The doctor decided it would be best to wait another year before we do the eating challenge though since you’re still pretty young. That was fine with me since we weren’t sure we’d be able to get you to eat the food anyways. You’ve become such a picky eater! Still it is such a relief to know that I no longer have to worry about what you’re eating and that we no longer need to worry about carrying EpiPens wherever we go. At this point the only thing you need to avoid are eggs themselves, but that’s not hard and it likely wouldn’t be a problem if you ate some anyways.

September doesn’t look to be terribly eventful either although you did start preschool. I’m sure we’ll spend most of the month finishing up potty training. I can’t wait to see where we are when I write the letter in October! You are becoming such a big boy.
Love,
Mommy
So thoughtful!
