Nick’s Temper Tantrums

Sharing is caring!

Temper Tantrum

This week I was curious to see how on track Nick was developmental wise.  I looked at the two year milestones and was happy to see that Nick was on track for the most part.  Of course he still has two months to go before he’s two, so being a little off really isn’t a big deal anyways.  One of the milestones they’re supposed to hit by two years old is getting upset with things and expressing anger.  If I had been marking the items off I would have had to give that one a very big check because Nick has that one down pat already.  Luckily now that he has gotten over his sinus infection the tantrums a becoming few and far between, but for awhile a few weeks ago, while he was still really sick, we were seeing them a lot.  Temper tantrums can be a frustrating headache for a parent, so I’m sure you’re wondering how they fit into the category of Silly Saturday, but trust me when I say Nick’s do.

Unfortunately for Nick, or more likely us, Nick comes by his stubbornness naturally (from both sides).  Needless to say I wasn’t surprised to see a little temper come out, even if I didn’t like it.  Temper tantrums can be one of those things that are obnoxious to deal with at the time, but can sometimes can be funny when you look back at them.  Really!  When I was a kid I had a bad habit of slamming my bedroom doors.  One day I did it so hard that I broke the door frame on both of the doors!  I can’t say my mother was really happy at the time, but we do joke about it now.

Now Nick’s temper tantrums can be just so darn cute though!  Sometimes he’ll just get mad and cry and refuse to mover from his location (those tantrums are just annoying), but sometimes he gets mad and stomps his little feet.  At the time I’m usually exasperated with him for being upset, but looking back it’s just so cute.  He doesn’t lift his feet up high, he just stands there and just stomps them in frustration.

Thankfully we haven’t seen many temper tantrums since he got on antibiotics.  Just more proof that Nick really did need antibiotics (the doctor didn’t really agree with me on that).  Now when he gets upset it’s usually because he’s getting upset with the tablet, or because I took the tablet away because he was upset with it.  Those are screaming and crying fits, and those are so not cute!

Do you have a good temper tantrum story?

  1. If only we could always take a step back and see how funny tantrums really are. When I was little I’d hold my breath until I passed out – talk about determination! My mom took to me to the doctor who concluded I was just a spoiled brat and that my mom shouldn’t give in because as soon as I passed out I started breathing again.

    1. Oh wow! I think you win! Nick is a breath holder. Even as a newborn when he got really upset he’d hold his breath for a long time before he’d start crying. He would hold it so long that he’d start turning blue! It still can freak Jason out when he does it, but I don’t worry about it because I know he’ll start crying eventually.

  2. I am getting ready to leave from vacation but wanted to check the post out:) We are at the same point with the tantrums. Oh boy! Is it bad- but I have to laugh too at times:)

    1. Mel it’s so sweet of you to check in on my posts while on vacation! It seems our little ones are at the same spots. Sometimes you have to laugh or else you’ll end up pulling out your hair!

  3. Just wait until he’s 3! He’ll really show his stuff!

When Evan was about this age, he liked to stick his finger in his belly button. I have the best picture of him screaming and crying with his finger in his belly button.

You gotta see the funny or you’ll go crazy! LOL

    Glad he’s feeling better!
