Carrom Board: Reconnect With Game Time #UnPlugwithCarrom

Carrom Board

I would like to extend my gratitude to Carrom for sponsoring this post

There is something wonderful about game time with the family.  It doesn’t matter what age your kids are, or if you even have any kids at all.  It’s simply fun to pull out a game and start playing.  Nick is at the age where he’s just starting to get into games, and it’s so cute.  He doesn’t really get the part about rules.  He likes to just play games the way he wants, and we’re all fine with that.  That’s one of the times when it’s easy to have only one.  An older sibling would get annoyed that he’s not playing the game right (I know I would have been), but we adults just think it’s too cute.

I recently received a Carrom Board to review.  When Nick saw the box he couldn’t wait to open it.  He’s also at the age when any package is the most exciting thing that ever existed.  Of course I didn’t make him wait very long.  He thought that the Carrom Board was so neat, and he wanted to play with it right away.  He didn’t even give us times to open the instruction booklet to see how to play any of the games.  He just grabbed the pieces and went to town.  He had the absolute best time playing with it.  In fact playing with it kept him entertained for a few days.  Now what mom doesn’t like that?

The Carrom Board itself is really nice, and you can tell it’s really well made.  It’s very sturdy and well put together.  My mom was with us when we opened it and she even remarked on the quality.  As she put it the board is so well made that it could easily last a family for generations.  Of course you can expect no less from not only a company that’s based in the U.S. but one that’s based in Michigan.  Hey, I’ve got to give my state it’s props.

Playing with Carrom Board
One of the great things about the Carrom Board is that there is so much that you can do with it.  The board flips over so there are two different sides to play on.  Between the two sides there are over 100 games that can be played!  Now that will keep your kids occupied!

I have to admit that before doing this review I had never heard of a Carrom Board.  I can’t say the same for my grandfather though.  He came over for dinner while we still had the board set-up.  He took one look at it and went, “Oh, a Carrom Board!”  Well, if that didn’t blow my mind.  I had not realized how long people had been playing with these boards.  That’s what makes this game board so great.  It spans generations to bring them together.

Playing Carrom Board with Mommy
A perfect time to get your entire family together to play with a Carrom Board is on October 16.  Did you know that October 16 is National UnPlug Night?  I hadn’t known that myself until recently, but I love this idea!  We’re all so busy now days, and even when we’re not on the go we’re all busy looking at our phones, or doing stuff on the computer.  I know that I’m guilty of this.  My professional life revolves around the internet, so I constantly have to be on it checking things out.  We all need to UnPlug and take a break from all that though.  I’ve already marked October 16 on my calendar.  I can’t wait to sit down and play games with Nick.  It would be great if we could also get some other family members to join us too.  When it comes to playing games it certainly is the more the merrier!

Included Items
You really should look into getting a Carrom Board for your own family.  If you get a Carrom Board you will not only supply your family with a lot of fun games (enough to play a different game every week for two years!), but you’ll also be supporting a USA company.  Each Carrom Board cost $64.  It comes with a game board, 44 playing pieces, two cue sticks, 2 number dice, and a full instruction booklet with instructions for all the possible games.  While we did let Nick play with it the game is actually intended for ages 13 and up.
