Cozy Wall Art: Giving New Life To Your Walls

Disclaimer: I received a free wall decal from Cozy Wall Art in order to facilitate my review.  All opinions are still 100% my own.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Cozy Wall Art to see if I would be interested in doing a review of their wall decals, and I was immediately intrigued.  I’ve always liked the look of wall decals, although I haven’t had a ton of experience with them.  You may remember that I had used some to decorate Nick’s nursery though.  I have always liked how they easily added a little something extra to his room, so I was very excited at the idea of adding another wall decal to my home.

Choosing my Cozy Wall Art

It actually took me a long time to figure out which decal I wanted to get.  If you got a chance to check out my post about the free Disney custom maps than you know that I am working on updating the decor of my home.  My plan is to give each room a different Disney theme.  This thought, as well as the knowledge of what walls would work with a decal, were in the back of my mind as I scoured the webpage.

My search helped me decide to give my new spare bathroom a Port Orleans French Quarter theme.  To help me pull my theme off I chose a decorative wall decal that looks like wrought iron.  The look of it seemed perfect to me, and when I read in the description that the look was based on wrought iron you’d find in New Orleans I knew it was!  I decided to order it in gold.  The bathroom is green, so I felt that gold would help give it a Mardi Gras coloring.  My next plan is to get some dark purple hand towels to finish off the color scheme, but I’ll leave that for another day.

Applying my Cozy Wall Art

My wall decal arrived almost a week ago, but I waited until the weekend to put it up.  It just seemed like parts of it would require two people, and it’s always good to have a second pair of eyes to help.  We put it up this past Sunday and I have to admit that it was harder to do than the ones that we used in Nick’s room.  Those were like giant stickers.  You peeled them off the paper and stuck them where you wanted them.  The application for this decal was quite a bit different though.

Blank Wall
The decal came with great instructions and plenty of tips to help the application go well.  We followed them all, but I don’t think my wall was too happy with the idea.  The first step was to put the decal on the wall with painting tape.  The tape didn’t want to stick to the wall though.  We figured that the tape was just a bit old, and we’ve never had the best experience with it, so after some choice words at it we brushed the problem off.

Starting to Apply
The next step was to peel the back paper off while sticking the decal to the wall.  That was a bit tricky with such a big decal, but once it was started it wasn’t too bad.  I had chosen the large version of my decal so it would fill the wall, so this step really needed two people.  Once the back is all off you use a hard piece of plastic (that is included) to help the decal stick to the wall as well as to hep smooth it out.  For the most part it went well although we did end up with a few bumps long the way.

Pulling off Back Paper
The next step was where things got hard.  When we went to peel the front paper off the decal wouldn’t stay on the wall.  This is why I said the wall wasn’t being nice, and the fact that the painters tape wouldn’t stick at all should have been a warning.  We still don’t know why things wouldn’t stick.  Our only thought was the fact that it was a bit humid out that day.  The back hall (where the bathroom is located) is usually pretty cool, but we’re thinking that there just might have been enough humidity in the air to cause a problem.  My best advice is to run the air conditioning for a little bit if there is any humidity in the air on the day you want to put yours up.

In the end though my mother worked her magical powers and got the decal to stick to the wall.  It has a few tiny flaws from our application difficulties, but they’re not very noticeable.  Needless to say if major Type-A me doesn’t mind them than you know the rest of the world won’t even see them!

Finished Decal

My thoughts on my Cozy Wall Art

I honestly don’t feel that the problems we had with the application had anything to do with my gorgeous decal.  I’m still not sure exactly what went wrong, but I’d say that the problem was with my wall.  As frustrating as it was at the time I would deal with it all over again.  The decal looks amazing.  My grandparents came over yesterday and they couldn’t get over how it looked and how much it added to the bathroom.  I truly love how it looks and now I can’t wait to get more stuff to finish off my theme in that room.

There are so many amazing decals that you can choose from at CozyWallArt.com, and they come in a huge variety of colors.  You need to check them out because a wall decal can do amazing things to enhance the look of your room
