Nick’s First Vacation: Cozumel

On Wednesday I was up really early, even had to have a wake up call from Mickey, because that was the day of our excursion. We were at Cozumel and had booked an excursion to go to some Mayan ruins, and then to tour a miniatures park, and finally we would end it with a fiesta. I had been looking forward to this for a long time, and I couldn’t wait to go. When I got out of bed I was surprised by how dark it still was, but I sort of figured that it was because it was earlier than when I had been getting up.
Once I got around I went upstairs to get my hot chocolate and I was shocked by what I saw on the deck. It was raining, no it wasn’t raining, it was pouring with thunder and lightning! I was shocked. How were we to go on our excursion with weather like that?
With a heavy heart I headed back down to the staterooms and got Mom for breakfast. It was so early still that the dining area was practically empty. We got our food and sat at our table staring out the windows. We were pulling into port while we ate. The rain continued to pour down and we kept seeing lightning flash. As we were eating my grandparents came up and sat down with us.
As we all finished up eating we tried to decide what to do. It was getting late, and if we were going to go I needed to get Jason and Nick up, so a decision had to be made. As bummed as I was at the thought of missing our excursion I just did not want to be pushing a metal stroller around with a bunch of lightning. Plus we figured that the paths around the ruins probably wouldn’t be paved, so I really didn’t want to push a little umbrella stroller through the mud. Then there was the little problem that we were supposed to eat on our excursion and we weren’t sure what Nick would be able to eat, and we weren’t supposed to take any food off the ship. We had booked the excursion before Nick had been diagnosed with an egg allergy, and no one had later thought about the problem that would cause. It was finally decided that we wouldn’t go, and Mom said she’d stay with us. My grandparents didn’t really want to go out in the rain, but we had prepaid for the tickets, and they didn’t want to waste the money, so they decided they would still go.
Since it was still so early we all ended up sitting at the breakfast table a little longer talking. We couldn’t help but talk about how much we had wanted to go on the excursion and how unfair it was that it would be pouring with thunder and lightning. We decided to blame our situation on the Mayans. We had to blame someone right? Of course our conversation turned into a discussion on how rainy the weather had been for our cruise. We figured it was because it was still technically hurricane season. We later heard from other Cast Members though that the amount of rain that we had was extremely odd. Just our bad luck I guess.

We finally decided to head back down. Grandma and Grandpa had to finish getting ready if they were still going on the excursion. Before we left I got breakfast for my guys and mom helped me carry it downstairs. When we got to the room I found both Jason and Nick up. They hadn’t been awake long, but Jason of course was confused about why I had let him sleep so late. I told him all about the weather and our decision and he agreed that it was the right one. Mom went to head back to her room, but before she left I gave her our excursion tickets. They were non refundable, but if the excursion company canceled the trip then we would likely receive a refund. Grandma and Grandpa were going to take our tickets with them in case we lucky enough to get our money back.
Once mom had left Jason had his breakfast and I turned on Disney Junior for Nick to watch while he had his breakfast. We had the whole day in front of us with no plans for it. At that point we were just going to spend some time relaxing.
To Be Continued…

Sorry for the rain, but gosh those pictures are gorgeous. Blame the Mayans – thats hysterical.
Now I wonder what will happen next. Good job.
Like you don’t know ;-).
