Packing It Up For Storage
I am in a crazy cleaning and getting rid of stuff frenzy. With Christmas days away I realized it was time to weed through Nick’s old toys and put into storage the ones that he has outgrown and no longer plays with. I have to make room for all the new toys that he’s going to get in a few days. I honestly don’t know where I’m going to put everything! At the same time he has had a bit of a growth spurt and has finally outgrown most of his 12 month clothes, so I am now trying to also weed through those to put into the clothing storage tub that I keep in his closet.
It’s interesting as a parent how you react to seeing your child grow-up. Watching Nick grow is truly bitter sweet. So far I love every new stage that Nick enters. I keep thinking it can’t get better, and yet it does! Still it’s sad to leave another stage behind. I look at Nick now and I can’t believe that he used to be the little baby that fit in an basket for his newborn pictures. Watching him run around the house these days I can’t believe that there was a time when we wondered if he’d ever figure out how to move on his own. Forget about needing to hold my hand to walk! Now the only time he takes my hand is when he’s crossing a street or going down the stairs. It’s crazy how when you’re in a rough stage it seems to go on forever, and then you blink and it’s long gone. It’s so amazing and fun to see him change and grow, but there’s a part of me that misses what he used to be. Of course then I think really? Do I really miss midnight feedings and being spit up on? How quickly we forget the things that bothered us at the time, and then find that we can actually miss them!
So, here I am packing everything up. It’s not like this is the crazies and busiest few days of our entire year. Oh, that’s right…it is! I swear I honestly don’t know how to relax. I just keep putting more on my plate. If I don’t get it done this weekend I’ll be doing it as soon as Christmas is over because there is no room left for more toys, and honestly I don’t feel that Nick has that many (one of the pains of having an old house is that there is not as much storage space). Of course if I don’t get to it until after Christmas then I’ll be trying to do while taking all of the decorations down (I hate that part) which will be a pain too. Why didn’t I get to this weeks ago when I first thought about it!?!

You are so right! You blink your eyes, and your baby has babies of his own! I miss my babies so much sometimes, but they are all grown up and moved away. My oldest grandson is 16! I just can’t believe how the time has flown by.
I already miss my baby! Yet it is amazing to watch him turn into his own person. I’m not ready for the teenage years yet though!
I’ve been having a lot of moments like that lately with my three year old where I just look at him amazed & think about how he was once so little he couldn’t walk, or talk, or throw a ball, etc. It’s crazy how far they come in such a short time!
The do grow so fast. It’s hard to believe how fast they grow and change during the first few years.
